Le Havre - Mimizan

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone could help us? My wife and i are travelling from Le Havre to Mimizan on the 2nd August 2005. The ferry gets in at 2 and thus we wont%26#39; be on the road till 2:30pm. Aiming to drive a fair bit ~ 6 hrs before we find some accommodation for the night. This is our first time doing this journey and we are unsure of where to stop. Does anyone know of a nice B%26amp;B roughly in the vicinity of where we are heading (not too far off the main road) that we can stay in for the night?

Kind Regards

Hi Denis -

I just took a quick look at the suggested route from Le Havre to Mimizan on www.viamichelin.com They seem to think you are going to be driving about eight hours and about 750km. Based on their suggested route, I%26#39;d be inclined to break the trip just about midway, and stay either in Montreuil-Bellay or Saumur, both of which should have a good choice of hotels and restaurants. Saumur probably has more choices of both, but either would be a pleasanrt place to stop. Sorry I don%26#39;t really have a recommendation for either place as I have only seen them in passing, as it were, but a search on this forum and elsewhere will give you some ideas.

Just seems to me that making a more relaxed day of it after your ferry crossing would make it a more enjoyable trip, unless you are desperately anxious to get to Mimizan very early on your second day - and I really don%26#39;t know much about the places further south along the way to Bordeaux and Mimizan itself.

Bonne route!
