Gare de Lyon Area

We will be arriving at the Gare de Lyon station in Paris by train about 4:30 p.m. in September. Can anyone advise about the area? While in Paris, we will be traveling by local transportation (Metro, bus, etc.) Is the area accessible to the rest of the city and the major attractions, and is this a comfortable area to stay in? We looked at the comments about the Hotel Terminus Lyon Paris, which is across the street from the station. If anyone has knowledge about this hotel, I would appreciate your comments. Thanks to all.

There was a thread within the last day or so with the topic %26quot;Hotel in the 12th%26quot; or something close. Check it out for a good description of the area generally.

Is there a reason besides proximity that you want to stay in a hotel right across the street from a major train station? There are certainly places within a ten minute walk of the station that I think would be preferable.

Thanks, Irish Rover, for the information. I looked up the previous thread, and it gave me some good information. It looks like a good area. The only reason for selecting a hotel across from the station is that there will be 7 of us, and trying to maneuver that many people after a long train ride made it seem like a good idea to stay close, as long as public transportation is available nearby, and it seems to be. I%26#39;ve been in Paris three times before and have stayed in other parts of the city, but this will be a first for 5 people. I%26#39;m trying to make it easier for them. Thanks, again. There will be much to see and do in the area.
