Hi my mother and I arrive in Paris (CDG) at 9pm, is it possible, and safe to take the tube then? What is best way to get to Ecole Militaire stop please as hotel is next to there. Someone said see if I can get to Gare de Nord and get a taxi from there but I think its not in the right direction. Please respond asap as I am flying at midday tomorrow (Fri 27th May). Thanks Sam.

no problem for the subway at night : It%26#39;s quite safe.
From CDG to Ecole Militaire, the best way is :
take the Roissy Bus from CDG to Opera, and then The line 8 (Balard) to your destination. Maybe 1h from CDG.

If you take the RER- The easiest and quickest way IMO is to avoid the metro and take the RER B line from CDG to St. Michel then transfer to the C line and get off at Pont de Alma. You are about a 6 to 10 minute walk 4-5 blocks from the ecole militaire metro stop. There is a 92 bus and others that can take you up the 4 blocks from Alma to Ecole Militaire metro if that%26#39;s your final location.
The other way with the bus is to take it to Etoile, rather than Opera, and then catch a cab or the 92 bus down from there to Ecole Militaire. The cab will be around 6-8 euros

Since you are traveling at 9 pm the Bus to Etoile or Opera may be the most stress free way...outside of a cab all the way, which will run 45 to 50 euros.....The RER is safe but can have problems on that northern line at nite- mostly bagage or portable computer theft... During the day it%26#39;s fine....like the metro which is very safe.....

Also - and not being critical - you should refer to the subway as the %26quot;metro%26quot; - it is not the %26quot;tube%26quot; and no one will know what you%26#39;re talking about.
(The London Underground is often called the %26quot;tube%26quot;, but you know that :) )

I just returned from Paris and stayed at a hotel near the ecole militaire stop. I took the rer from CDG to St. Michel, then the rer to Versailles, then the metro to ecole militaire. Depending on your hotel location, you could probably walk from the Versailles rer stop. It was very easy and inexpensive and the location seemed very safe at night.

There is NO direct Matro connection between GARE du NORD and the ECOLE MILITAIRE Metro station, you would have to change Metro trains once en-route. Though I%26#39;m a big fan of public transportation, I%26#39;m not all that enthused about rolling luggage through the regular Metor system. I%26#39;m inclined to recommend that this time, you just take a taxi from the regular rank outside the station doors directly to your hotel in the 7eme. If you haven%26#39;t brought Euros with you from the UK, you can use one of the ATMs at Gare du Nord to get enough convenience cash for taxi fares, sundries.

Samantha, from your post I read that you are arriving at CDG airport at 9PM. Flying at midday tomorrow from London arriving in Paris 9 hrs later???? Do not go to Gare du Nord from the airport. Not necessary and not exactly the safest place for 2 women that late at night. At 9PM, as a female with luggage and jet-lag (if traveling long distance), I%26#39;d find it worth the money to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel instead to stay safe.
