First time to Paris with teens, baggage, metro & museum...

Our family of 4 is traveling to Paris, Nice, Lucca and Rome in June. My husband is attending the Paris Airshow for business, and myself and 17 year old daughter and 15 year old son will be joining him in Paris. After the airshow ends, we leave for Nice for the rest of our vacation. I have read numerous posts, and am grateful for all the helpful advice I have learned. A few questions that I haven%26#39;t been able to find specifically answered when searching the forum:

1. We are flying on Easy-jet to Nice. Are they as strict on the baggage and carryon items as the website suggests?

2. Museum passes. Is there a website that can tell me about the Museum pass? Do the kids need a pass? We will be in Paris from Wed 6/15 to Sat 6/18. If we want to see the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Saint Chappelle, Sacre Coure, does a pass make sense?

3. Metro. Does it make sense for the time we are there to get a pass, or just by 10 ticket books when we need them?

4. Can anyone recommend a Seine river cruise? What%26#39;s the best time of day for the cruise?

Any other advice anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated...Sorry for the long post. Thanks again for all your help!!!

The best valu cruise is Bateaux-MOuches from Pot de l%26#39;Alma, slightly longer and cheaper than the others. The Sacr coeur and Notre dame are free to enter, if you just want to see the inside (for the Notre Dame towers you have to pay or have the pass). Check if the Eiffel tower is included in the pass. For under-18 years old the Louvre is free and they may get other discounts, so maybe the pass would be worth for the parents but maybe not for the kids.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;1. We are flying on Easy-jet to Nice. Are they as strict on the baggage and carryon items as the website suggests?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Sorry, I can%26#39;t say how strict Easy Jet is on checked baggage and carry-ons--but if they%26#39;re anything like most budget air carriers, you would be wise to try to adhere as closely as possible to their rprescribed limits...or be prepared for large over-weigh baggage charges and agravation. These budget carriers aren%26#39;t offering you these low fares out of the goodness of their hearts.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;2. Museum passes. Is there a website that can tell me about the Museum pass? Do the kids need a pass? We will be in Paris from Wed 6/15 to Sat 6/18. If we want to see the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Saint Chappelle, Sacre Coure, does a pass make sense?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

How much sense the CARTE MUSEE et MONUMENTS pass makes for you will depend pretty much how many of its covered museums and monuments you plan to visit? But, it%26#39;s worth noting that most of the major Paris museums are free to under-18 visitors, which means that your two children won%26#39;t need to pay any admission for places like the Louvre, d%26#39;Orsay, Pompidou, Picasso, etc. If you have a Carte Musee et Monuments pass, they can also accompany you past waiting ticket lines as well.

If you use the SEARCH function of this forum, using %26#39;..PARIS MUSEUM LINKS, AGE..%26#39; as your search criteria, you will dind a detailed list to assist you.

The official Paris Inte Musee web site for the Carte Musee et Monuments pass has been down for months, but you can find out which museums and monuments in Paris are covered by the pass at--MUSEUMS-of-PARIS-- http://www.museums-of-paris.com/ --BUT...DO NOT pre-purchase the pass from this third-party agency. Their prices are higher than you will pay in Paris.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;3. Metro. Does it make sense for the time we are there to get a pass, or just by 10 ticket books when we need them?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Given the WEDNESDAY-thru-SUNDAY days of your itinerary, you can still purchase the CARTE ORANGE weekly transportation pass (but you MUST do it on Wednesday, the day to arrive) but whether simply purchasing seveal CARNETS of reduced-priced individual tickets or the Carte Orange pass is the better deal for you will depend on how much you will be using the public transportation system. I%26#39;d be inclined to purchase the Carte Orange...but you can work the math and decide for yourself which suits best. But in making your decision bear in mind the %26#39;..intangilbe..%26#39; benefits of the CO---hop-on/hop-off convenience for both Metro and public bus and the %26#39;..souvenir value..%26#39; of a %26#39;..personalized..%26#39; (you need a head-shot photo for the ID card portion of the CO) memento of your visit to Paris.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;4. Can anyone recommend a Seine river cruise? What%26#39;s the best time of day for the cruise?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

All of the Seine sightseeing cruises follow pretty much the same %26#39;..circuit..%26#39; of the sights along the Seine and one operator doesn%26#39;t really offer any more than another. So pick the one that is most convenient to whereever you happen to be. If possible, do BOTH a day AND a night sightseeing cruise. You won%26#39;t regret either.

For the cruise, www.vedettesdupontneuf.com/va/circuit.htm will showyou the route, timetable etc and also give you a E2.00 discount voucher that you can print off for each person.

The Eiffel Tower is not included in the pass. It costs around E11 for adults.

From what I%26#39;ve heard from my friends who have travelled Easyjet, they don%26#39;t always charge you for excess baggage, they may choose to disallow it all together.
