3 days in Paris - what sites not to miss???

I am arriving into Paris next Wednesday. I am staying near the Louvre and have 3 days. What are the sites to make sure and see? Also any restaurant suggestions? Any help is appreciated.

Here are several categories of the major traditional sites.

You might pick from them since I do not know your interests.

I am including those somewhat central so you won%26#39;t be eating

up a lot of your 3 days travelling far afield.

MUSEUMS - Louvre, D%26#39;Orsay, Cluny, Rodin, Marmatton

CHURCHES - Notre Dame, St. Chappelle, Sacre Coeur

PARIS WALKS - Latin Quarter, Ile de la Cite

GARDENS - Tuilleries, Luxembourg

SHOPPING - Galerie Lafayette, Printemps, Sanmartine

Eiffel Tower, Arc d%26#39;Triompe, Invalides, Montmarte,

rue Mouffetard, Pere Lachese Cemetery.

Put any of these in the Search function of this forum

and you will get a lot of information.

Best Wishes

Not knowing what you like it%26#39;s hard to say...the Le Open Tours hop-on, hop-off bus tour will take you around all the major sites which is a great way to see the sights. If I only had 3 days, I would go to the Effiel Tower, Cluny Museum, Musee d%26#39; Orsay, Sainte Chappele, Sacre Cour, the Paris Opera House, Galleries Lafayette (amazing building) and take a Siene River cruise. You could fit in more, but you%26#39;d lose the oppourtunity to sit in outdoor cafes and enjoy wonderfulness of Paris.

You%26#39;ll love it no matter what you pick....Enjoy!

Just an opinion here...

Eiffel Tower (do this late at night to avoid lines)

Notre Dame (free - wander in around 5:45pm to hear the organ begin playing mass)

Montmartre which has Sacre Coeur Basilica and the Place de Tertres where the street artists are.

If you really want a whirlwind tour, you can do a lot; but you won%26#39;t have the time to do what%26#39;s best...soak it all in. I%26#39;ll give you an example; I just returned Saturday night from 2 1/2 days in Paris. My sister and brother-in-law were with us and this was their first trip. We wanted to show them all of the basic tourist sites so here%26#39;s what we did:

Arrived at hotel at 4pm - put down luggage, brushed hair and went straight to Notre Dame.

Left Notre Dame around 6:15pm and walked to Isle St. Louis for a 7pm dinner (did a few shops before dinner)

Day 2: Got up early, went to Trocadero for Eiffel Tower view - walked to Eiffel Tower just to look (no going up yet)

Left Eiffel Tower and went to St. Chappelle. Then went to Louvre for 3 hours. Afterwards, a bit more %26#39;exploring%26#39; then off to dinner. After dinner, guys went to Moulin Rouge, my sis and I hiked up to Sacre Coeur to see the city view at night.

Day 3: Early morning again - shopped at Monoprix for picnic lunch. Went to Pere Lachaise Cemetery for a little while. Had picnic lunch and then went to Montmartre - toured Basilica and had a quick turn around the artist district. Back to hotel to get dressed for the best thing we did...a cooking class in someone%26#39;s home - just the four of us, our teacher and her husband.

Have to tell you...this was A LOT in this small amount of time. But my sister just wanted to see it all. She%26#39;s planning to go back to just soak in the atmosphere when there%26#39;s more time.

If you do go to Sacre Coeur, make sure you walk down the outside stairs to the left of the Basilica and go inside the crypt. It%26#39;s free to get in...it looks like it costs 5 Euro, but that%26#39;s because the ticket window to go up in the dome is right there. The crypt is a well-kept secret. It has wonderful sculptures, and if the day is hot (ours was!) it was deliciously cool.

Send me an email and I%26#39;ll send you a copy of my notes: vickisfloyd@hotmail.com.

The other option? Just get to Paris - skip any kind of itinerary and see what looks interesting to you.
