just wondering what folks thought of The Danton

it%26#39;s on Rue M. Le Prince just south of the Odeon metro stop. Thanks

Well, what is it? a movie house, a cafe, a hotel...what?

|||

woops. sorry. it%26#39;s a restaurant. nothing fancy schmancy.

The only %26quot;Danton%26quot; I can find is at 103 blvd St Germain, at the Carrefour de l%26#39;Odeon. Looks like a very nice cafe/brasserie situated on a very busy interchange - lots of people watching. I found a few obscure references to it in people%26#39;s trip reports by googling. I%26#39;m sue it%26#39;s a good neighborhood cafe.

A nice photo of it can be found on the pagesjaunes.fr as well. (and a map)

oh travelnutty you are so nice. I should have been much more specific. We ate there several times our last trip because it was convenient to our hotel. I was wondering how it stacks up against other restaurants that people like and mention so often... like Coupe Chou, Chien qui Fume, etc. Was trying to get an idea of what other places were like. but thank you so much for all your research!

|||

but oh dear... it only got 1 wine glass on your website. :(

My impression of the %26#39;corner brasserie or cafe%26#39; is that the food will be good or very good, inexpensive, and usually a more casual atmosphere, no need to order 4 courses, etc.

A small bistro might be better able to specialize, such as feature a regional cuisine, and will maintain a smaller listing of dishes, will most likely be best to reserve a table... It might not really be fair to compare the cuisine.

Just generalizing, of course, haven%26#39;t been inside any of these particular mentions...

It%26#39;s just a brasserie like there is some thousands in PAris. Nothing exceptionnal, nothing good, nothing bad!

It is nicely located, but there is some equivalent cafes around place Danton.

If you%26#39;re looking for a nice restaurant go to Vagenende, pretty good, and a real typical 1920 Art Deco style.

IF you%26#39;re going for a drink go to La Rhumerie, a little bit farther towards Saint Germain des Pres on the same side of the Boulevard Saint Germain
