eyeglasses

I%26#39;m sure I can find some very chic frames in Paris- so how does this work? Do I bring my prescription with me, or buy the frames and bring them home to be filled with lenses?

If you have enough time, the shops selling eyeglasses will copy your presciption into the frames you select. It will take 2 to 3 days. My sister did this and was very happy with the results. Many of the shops around tourist areas, such as st Germain des Pres, are used to dealing with Americans doing this. A friend of mine was looking at frames and the owner of the shop, seeing that she was buying, brought out some frames that he said had just arrived and were only found in France. They were pretty wild looking but she loved them and says everyone raves about them. A few months later she saw the actor Robin Williams wearing the same frames on TV. You can find some great sunglasses as well, designer names. Of course, the department stores such as Galeries LaFayette also sell a good selection of sunglasses.

There is a great place full of original frames on the rue du Dragon and another one on the rue du Bac (between St Germain and Babylone).

There is a Grand Optical on the Champs Elysees. They have designer frames and can make the lenses in an hour.... just the time to slip over to Laduree for a treat!

oooooo- thank you both! If I have to wear glasses, they may as well be fabulous.
