Where is Mozart's Requiem Playing?

I%26#39;ve heard many people suggest listening to a live version of Mozart%26#39;s Requiem in a church. I%26#39;ve searched all over and can%26#39;t seem to find tickets for this. Any advice?

Also - I%26#39;d *love* to see an Opera while there, but it seems as though there%26#39;s nothing playing for the month of July. Is this true?

Germany July 20-26th

Paris July 26-30th

There is no opera in Paris in July. As far as the Requiem goes, it is unlikely for that too, since the Classical music season takes a break in the summer (except for summer festivals in out-of-the-way villages).

I think all the major opera houses of Europe are dark during the summer. You might be able to find a festival in Germany with opera performances, and I know some cities have smaller summer opera companies, usually with younger singers and in less well-known venues.

Paris has a festival of concerts every summer in the Eglise St. Germain des Pres and the Eglise St. Louis en l%26#39;Ile. Off the top of my head I can%26#39;t remember the name of the festival though. Perhaps one of the resident Paris experts can help.

There should certainly be something going on as part of that festival, but whether you%26#39;d be lucky enough to hear the Mozart Requiem I don%26#39;t know.

When you get to Paris pick up a copy of Pariscope and it will list all the church performances for the few days you are there.

Local tourist offices should be able to help you in Germany if you haven%26#39;t found anything before you get there.
