Where is planned live8 concert on July 2? And how to get there? Any other tips?

Last I heard was that the Paris venue had not yet been set. I do know the concerts are free %26amp; following is a bit of text I found online:

%26quot;The events are aimed at raising awareness of poverty in developing countries just days before G8 leaders meet in Britain.

Geldof said the G8 meeting provided a unique opportunity for Britain to do something unparalleled in the world ... to tilt the world a little bit on its axis in favor of the poor.

Elton John, who sat beside Geldof at the news conference, said he was very proud to be involved.

Now Im fully aware of whats going on and seeing the injustices going on, John said. The 58-year-old pop star said he hadnt been mature enough to appreciate the last concert 20 years ago and its ramifications.

I second the previous comment. I have yet to find an exact location for the Paris concert. I%26#39;ll be there for my honeymoon, and I want to avoid the crowds if at all possible. The three locations I have heard mention on several different sites:

Eifel Tower

Versailles

Tuileries

Fiance and I decided to avoid it all together and go to Chartres for the day...

|||

The rock radio station said today that most likely it%26#39;ll be the Tower that gets it (Champs de Mars). It%26#39;s also gonna be televised !

|||

Interesting update:

According to the official live8live.com site, the concert is scheduled for the %26quot;Palais de Versailles, Paris%26quot;

This is a slight change, as this site previously listed both the Eifel Tower and Versailes sites and now only lists Versailles...

Gosh, for such a huge event the planning is pretty poor.

By the way ISUCyHopper, congratulations on your wedding. And how fabulous that you%26#39;re going to Paris for your honeymoon. I hope you manage to stay away from the concert. (I still have my fingers crossed that I get into the London Hyde Park show!)

Thanks Holly...I started a new post about this topic after coming across some important news:

PARIS SAYS NO TO LIVE 8 AT EIFFEL TOWER

The LIVE 8 extravaganza has been dealt a devastating blow - French authorities are refusing to allow the Paris concert to take place at the Eiffel Tower.

Plans were already in place for the gig, which includes JAMIROQUAI and YOUSSOU N%26#39;DOUR in the line-up, to kick off in front of the legendary landmark.

But French organisers have slammed SIR BOB GELDOF for causing a %26quot;logistical nightmare%26quot;, insisting %26quot;security issues%26quot; make it is impossible to stage the extravaganza at Tower.

However, the event%26#39;s promoter HARVEY GOLDSMITH is undeterred, and is looking into using the opulent Palace of Versailles - once the home of the ostentatious French monarchy.

He says, %26quot;There is still a possibility we will be able to use the Palace of Versailles, which has a capacity of 30,000. Between ourselves and the police we will make the final decision on Tuesday (07JUN05).%26quot;

But Goldsmith%26#39;s hopes may be met with hostility once again, as a spokesman for the historic site fumes, %26quot;The palace is about French history. It is not a pop music venue.%26quot;

Ah! That explains why info has not been forthcoming re the Paris venue - they%26#39;re still arguing with officials. If Live8 announced a site without obtaining agreement first they probably aren%26#39;t that popular with the bureaucracy either!

What do you think does it mean to be or not to be or just God knows where...?

Funny enough: On LIVE8 website concert venue for Paris is named as Palais de Versailles, but if you click on map it opens location of Porte de Versailles. Might it be that organizers even do not recognize the difference?
