Giverny to Musee Marmottan?

I plan a visit to Musee Marmottan. Does it make any sense to try to go there from Gare St Lazare on the return trip from Giverny?

Our hotel is in the St Germain de Pres area. We leave for Paris from Michigan today! Still organizing all my notes, plans etc based on all the wonderful input from TA regulars.

Merci

Hm... no idea at what time you plan to be back at Gare Saint-Lazare. If my memory is right, it seems there aren%26#39;t that many trains from Vernon back to Paris in the afternoon.

If you arrive by 4 PM, you should be able to be at the Marmottan no later than 5 PM. It%26#39;s about a 10 min. walk from La Muette metro stop.

That would allow you a 1 hour visit which should be enough. The Marmottan closes at 6 PM and is closed on Mondays.

Personally, I%26#39;d save the Marmottan for a different day. Go in the morning (opens at 10 AM) and afterwards enjoy the wonderful Passy area (Rue de Passy, Avenue Mozart, etc.). Very chic and Parisian, and pretty untouristy.

I agree pretty much with what CocoChanel has said. If you do want to do it, here is a little logistical help.

There is a train leaving Vernon at 12:52 which gets into St. Lazare at 13:42. (The 12:37 train actually reaches St. Lazare later.) Taking this train would mean your visit to Giverny would have to be as early as possible in the morning. The gardens open at 09:30 I think.

The next train from Vernon does not leave until 14:57 and arrives in Paris at 15:44, which would barely give you time to get to the Marmottan for a relaxed visit.

If you do want to get the earlier train, walk from St. Lazare one block south to the Havre Caumartin metro station on blvd Haussman. From there it is a straight shot (Line 9, Direction Pont de Sevres) to la Muette.

You could visit the Marmottan and take a look around the area - which is lovely - afterwards, and even have dinner in the vicinity. But if you have time, doing it on another day would make both visits more relaxed.

The Marmottan is a real treasure!

BTW, they DO NOT accept the museum pass.
