We are travelling to from Calais to Ile De Re and want to stop halfway overnight in our campervan. Can anyone suggest a campsite near a small town/village midway? Alencon seems to be about halfway, is it a nice place to stay. We want to keep the drive after Calais down to about 4hrs.

I think you will be happy in the area around Alencon. There are several campsites nearby. You should be able to find a listing on one of these sites:
