Can we cover these areas on a Sunday morning and afternoon?

Yes. We started at the Bastille, walked through Marais then to Ile de la Cite on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago. We included visits to Hotel Sully, Place des Vosges and the Carnavalet, Picasso and Pompidou museums. Plenty of walking, but many wonderful things to see and experience.
