Just got back from Paris

Well what can I SAY!!!!! It was great. Spent 5 days in Paris, I started out having an itinerary but at the last moment I thought, well just do what we please as the day goes on. It was wonderful no rushing etc. We took the 2 day hop on hop off bus tour which was great to get around. Went to the Louvre the first day, walked walked walked. We stayed at the Hotel de Varenne which was WONDERFUL!!!!! Great location, great hotel and wonderful staff. The weather was hot and sticky so of course we had to go shopping. Quelle domage!!! Had wonderful food at brasseries, cafes etc. I don%26#39;t think you could have a bad meal anywear. The Baquette of bread!!!! The croissants! melt in your mouth. My husband (it was his first time in Paris ) stated maybe I could get a job here????? He loved it!!!!! We did stay in London 2 days prior to this Paris trip (we did not care for London at all) When we got to Paris with the Eurostar (which was a wonderful experience, easy and fast) we thought Ooooohhhhh this is much better.

Well so much for now. Just got home and jet lagged.

What else did you do

five days did you stroll did you cruise

the weather was hot and sticky:(

we are going in 28 days and i just bought a couple of skirts to wear

i%26#39;m hoping it is not still hot then

how was the hop on bus tour

was it worth it

details....

Thanks

The hop on hop off was worth it it was 27 euros for a two day pass for each. It was cooling off the last day we were there, so maybe it was be so sticky for you. The French said it was not usual for that time of year. And I swear just eat at Brasseries and order UNE ASSIETTE DE CRUTITIES. What a wonderful veggie dish with a sauce I%26#39;m going to recreate and with the French bread and wine. mmmmmmmmmm

We walked and walked, went to the Louvre one day, Rodin Museum, D%26#39;orsay Museum all sooooo beautiful.

Eifel tower in the evening to see it sparkle on the hour every hour.

I did experience yet lag the first 3 days I was in London so maybe that%26#39;s why I didn%26#39;t care for London, Couldn%26#39;t sleep at night and was a zombie by 4 in the afternoon.

Now that I%26#39;m home I believe the jet lag will start again and have to go to work tomorrow Uggggg.

Oh well but the trip was great

|||

And of course the bateaux mouches in the evening for the seine cruise. well worth the 7 Euros per person.

And i really only gained 2 lbs eating tons of BREAD!!!!!! OH it was wonderful.

|||

we are going to london for 4 days before paris also

I can%26#39; wait to go to the orsay

i think that when you go visits places you can get a great if not better meal sometimes at your local resturant

it is good to hear that you had such good experience with them

i like it when i don%26#39;t have to worry so much about liking my meal because it cost more then my first car:)

|||

I%26#39;m glad you had a great first time visit to Paris. I, too, did not care for London. Different likes for different people I guess. Yes, I agree with you about the croissants!

Springtravler welcome back! Hope you get over your jet lag and when you have a free moment give us the gritty little detials of your trip. I live for those trip reports! I love the idea of buying clothes to suit the weather. Hmmm...maybe I won%26#39;t pack...hehehe.

|||

Welcome home Spring! Did you get to Reims? Tell us everything!

|||

Hi springtraveler!

I did not care for London either (I also visited London first for 3 nights prior to Paris visit). However, my jet lag wasn%26#39;t as bad as you describe. Grodgy the first day, slow to get up and go on the second day. When returning to the States, got sleepy early in the evening (NOT normal for me, a night owl!). Did my best to resist going to bed. Eventually got back to normal. I looked forward to leaving London and heading to Paris. It was HEAVEN! Glad you enjoyed it! For my next trip, I want to exclusively focus on Paris and perhaps one France side trip or two. My biggest problem is convincing potential traveling companions to NOT want to go to London. I would rather not go back unless it%26#39;s to see a certain show in the Piccadilly Circus area with a %26quot;big name star%26quot;. It felt stressful. Paris seemed much more laid back, like my idea of a real vacation.
