I can hardly believe that we will be in Paris on Friday! My husband would like to purchase an inexpensive cell phone to be able to make and receive calls from the US. Any suggestions on where to go to purchase one? We are staying at the Hotel Pont Royal in the 7th Arrondisement. As before, thank you to all for your generous advice.

Go to any Orange store in Paris (or SFR)

Orange and SFR are Telephone operators and have stores through the city.
Darty %26amp; FNAC are electronic stores also selling phones.
Bringing a duel-band phone with you from the US would also be an option though. That way you%26#39;d only have to get the SIM card to make/receive the calls.

must be a Tri band phone..
Otherwise, you can buy a pack including a phone with a sim card including some prepaid communications from the main shops such as Orange, SFR or PhoneHouse.
You can fin more info in english here :

I have a motorola quad band phone from Cingular wireless. I have used it several times in Paris, and I have always been very impressed with the quality of the calls. When you arrive in Paris the phone automatically switches over to the SFR network. You use the same number you have in the states, but be aware, the calls either incoming or outgoing will cost about a $1.29 per minute.
