Just read a book about Mao by Jung Chang who described him as a pitiless sadist who was a mass murderer of his own country men. Just wondered why you chose him as your username.

anyway i like %26#39;englishrose%26#39;..it sort of reminds me of that Elton John%26#39;s song dedicated to the late Lady Di..also,i wish to add that,i%26#39;m a sucker for anything English..English football,English tea,English lierature ,English rock bands,the BBC,English comedies,(Monty Phython,Black Adder,The Office) and who can forget the English Queen..and y favourite place in London - West End..that is why i would never diss London,though i yearn for Paris more..;)

Phew I thought maybe he was a hero of yours and we had a potential mass murderer in our midst! Well I have been to Singapore on route to Australia several times and I just adore the place. My sister is there this very minute on a shopping trip with friends. I cant wait to go back there.

Singapore is currently celebrating the Great Singapore Sale,so that exlpains the large number of tourists right now.Also the Singapore Arts Festival just kicked in and also it is the School holidays now.so the city is buzzing with people from all over the world.Anyway,the tourists dollar is important to us as it contributes to our GDP.so wowing them to visit us is part and parcel of driving the economy.
Though we%26#39;ve hurled a %26#39;nanny%26#39; state,rigid and dean-pan dull,we are slowly transforming ourselves to shed all the sterotypes.Amazingly,even as English is the lingua franca here,it is almost a dead giveway if someone from Singapore speaks English.We seem to pepper it with influences from the all the four races here,so much %26#39;murdering%26#39; the language.I for once,detest,the way,we speak.
Having said that,we know we can never be the London/Paris/New York that we try to be..we are such a mis-match of something but not everything..

yes..born and bred here but with a nagging urge to explore somewhere else,preferably,either Paris/London/Copenhagen.in fact,my ex-girlfriend was English..so that explains the number of times i visited London.tough i have a strange affinity for London,i guess i just adore Paris more..reasons enough why i lurk in TA Paris forum.
