Any ideas for day (worth it-) trips outside of Paris?

Merci.

You can take the train to CHARTRES.

NORMANDY has always been my favorite day trip.

VAUX LE COMPTE is somewhat like a small versailles

(the same architect did both).

MONT ST.MICHEL is another jewel.

There is always Versailles and Giverny

When you say Normandy, where in NOrmandy do you mean? Are you meaning a tour of WW11 sites? Or do you mean a beach type trip?

I am interested in a %26quot; beach type %26quot; trip for 2 or 3 days, we are going in August and I thought an escape from the heat in Paris might revive us.

Depending on how much time you have for your itinerary.....CHARTRES, the champagne caveux around REIMS, DIJON, LYON, LOIRE Valley Chateaux, TOURS, ROUEN, AMIENS, Chateau de CHANTILLYand SENLIS, Chateau de VERSAILLES LONDON, BRUGGES---depending on your own preferences and interests, all are %26#39;..worth it..%26#39;

If you are looking for a beach trip, and planning on just staying in one place for two or three days, Deauville-Trouville or Le Touquet are possible choices.

I%26#39;m always pushing Dijon as a day trip. It is a short train ride out of Paris. The tourist information office is right after you leave the train station so you can get a map of the city and do a walking tour. There is a great cathedral and very interesting museum to see, the Maille mustard boutique (exactly like the one in Paris), and some good places to eat. Also, buy a bottle of Cassis, to make kirs, as this is the area where it is made. It has a totally different feel from Paris and makes a nice change.

This is a great question to look up with the search function... as there has been much discussion on the topic.

Reims in the Champagne region makes for a great day trip for the gourmand crowd.

Monet%26#39;s home, Giverney, or Auvers sur Oise where Van Gogh ended his days for the art lovers.

And Fountainbleau with its incredilbe forest is a world attraction for rock climbers.

For a day of food, history, art and nature you can head out to Chantilly where there is a chateau housing an incredibly rich art collection, including Raphael%26#39;s Three Graces, plenty of trails through the local forest and you are in the home of chantilly... whipped cream. You can do this visit and see the medieval town of Senlis on the same trip.
