Paris in October?

I see that the average high in Paris in October is 59 degrees.

Not too bad, but it could certainly be warmer.

Any idea or experiences on how Paris is in October? It can be anything from weather to how crowded the trains are.

I have been there twice in October. The first time it was cold and rainy all week long. Then last year we had beautiful 70 degree weather all week with only a few sprinkles at night. Paris is much less crowded at this time so I%26#39;m willing to put up with a litlle rain and chilliness. Besides I live in So. Ca where our weather is so boring most of the time. I highly recomend going in October.

Hey I just noticed you are from Nebraska. How can you worry about the weather? My husband is from Gordon, Ne. and we spent a year in Lincoln. Too cold and windy for me and I%26#39;m from KC.

The weather in Paris is about as easy to predict as J-Lo%26#39;s next marriage partner...

That said, October can be lovely - warm, sunny and mellow - or it can be cold and windy and raw and wet. But it will probably be something in between, maybe with a bit of both thrown in if you stay long enough.

The tourist crowds will have thinned out considerably which will make most of the popular sights easier to visit, with shorter lines and so on.

The gardens, like the Luxembourg and the Tuileries will have a slightly melancholy air to them, though people will probably still be around if it is not actually miserable weather. On fine days you will still be able to enjoy a cafe terrace in the sun, and many Parisians will be doing the same.

There will be plenty going on in the city - concerts, theatre, that kind of thing.

Game will be in season in the restaurants that specialize in it. A very good thing, IMO! Try Le Petit Marguery on the blvd du Port-Royal. (And order the Grand marnier souffle for dessert...)

Is October a good month to visit Paris? If that is when you can go it is as good as January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, November or December. Seriously, I don%26#39;t think there is a bad month to visit Paris. You just have to be flexible with your plans and realistic in your expectations...

We found that alot of the cafes have those outdoor heaters so it is still possible to enjoy a meal outside even if it is cold. They will also have enclosed canopies.

October in Paris. This year 2005, October in Paris is how you can catch the Salon du Chocolat, the international chocolate show. However, you can also catch it in NY in November.

Another thing that people forget to mention is that the professional music groups (opera, orchestras, etc) are in full-swing of their calendar year performance schedules by October. They are relatively absent during the summer months.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the dates for Salon du Chocolat are 22 to 25 October, at Porte de Versailles.

Unfortunatelky the official site does not appear to have an English language option, but if you google %26quot;Salon du Chocolat%26quot; 2005 Paris, I%26#39;m sure you will find plenty of info in English...

If you can make arrangements for a quick trip to Beijing, you can catch the show there in June, or in New York from November 10 to 13. Or even Tokyo early next year. Or you could just rearrange your dates, of course...

I%26#39;ve never been, but I have been told it is quite a show. Even a chocolate fashion show...
