Exploring the Pyrenees in Basque Country

We%26#39;ll be staying at a B %26amp; B in a town called Suhescun, near St. Jean Pied-de-Port. We want to explore the Pyrenees and get the flavor of Pays Basque. Only two and a half days, and we are trying to stuff in a trip to the beach (Biarritz or Bayonne or that town just over the border, Hon-something), and to Lourdes.

I know, it%26#39;s a lot, but can anyone give us an idea of great routes through the mountains, nifty little towns, etc? We%26#39;ll have a rental car.

hello,

First of all, there is no beach at Bayonne.....

Biarritz is ok, but you must go to St Jean de Luz, Lourdes is nice if you%26#39;re catholic (lot of people), Pau, Orthez, Espelette....

For the mountains, go to the Valle d%26#39;Aspe ou the Valle d%26#39;Ossau. The cirque de Gavarnie is really nice, Les cascades du pont d%26#39;espagne,....

Regards

Thanks Mars! Just what I needed. My father took my brother to Lourdes 40 years ago for %26quot;the cure%26quot; (didn%26#39;t work), but he always talked about how lovely the town of Pau was. That%26#39;s what made me choose the area in the first place.

Of course, I%26#39;m not old enough to REMEMBER that or anything.
