Restaurant help?

We are staying at the Hotel Suisse for 1 night in June. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant in Nice, has anyone eaten in La Pecherie, if so what is it like and do you know where it is.

We are staying near Biot Gare for a couple of weeks, has anyone eaten in La Siesta or La Barraka?

Any comments please.

Thanks

Hello

I don%26#39;t know about La Pecherie but there is a restaurant called %26#39;Les Pecheurs%26#39; on the far side of the Port from La Suisse which would be very handy for you, about 4-5 minutes gentle stroll. I%26#39;ve not eaten there but I have heard it is ok.

For a couple of places near to La Suisse for a very nice meal, and not too expensive, try Le Tire Bouchon (review: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/ce086/

) on rue de la Prefecture in the Old Town, open only in the evenings, I%26#39;ve had a wonderful meal there. There is a set 3 course menu for 27 euros to give you an idea of price.

Another one is Chez Juliette on the corner of rue Rossetti and Benoit Bunico, great restaurant, definitely outshines all the surrounding tourist tat places, a real cut above the others in terms of quality and service. Interesting menu too, makes a change from all the pasta, pizza places. There is a 2 or 3 course menu from about 17 euros, so a bit cheaper than Le Tire Bouchon.

I ate there on Wednesday evening and had (from the a la carte) crab and avocado salad, followed by duck and corgettes, then a huge poached pear dipped in chocolate and a bottle of white, husband had similar and the meal came to about 80 euros for the 2 of us. It was one of the best meals I%26#39;ve had in Nice. My only warning is to have a pocket full of cents ready - because of its location there is a procession of buskers passing by.

Tel numbers to reserve are 04 93 92 68 47 for Chez Juliette and 04 93 92 63 64 for Le Tire Bouchon. I would recommend reserving if you want a table outside. Both Le Tire and Chez Juliette are about 4-5 minutes stroll from La Suisse, through the Old Town.

For one night in Nice either of these would be my choice.
