3 college students...where to stay?

Hi Guys,

I would realllllly appreciate your help. Initally I had thought I was nearly decided on where to stay for my stay in Paris (26th June and then 2nd July-7th July), however after reading the forum more I am completely confused.

We are three 20 year old college students, visiting France for the Fomular 1 GP in July. We will be staying Paris on the 26th June (overnight before ehading to Nice) and from 2nd July to 7th July.

It would be very nice to be somewhere where its convienent to get to the trainstation as we will be leaving from the Gare Lyon station, however we want to be close to the attractions, restaurants/cafes, and also have some fun :D .

We were planning to get a private ensuite triple, paying up to 35 Euro, but would prefer somewhere near 30.

I had been looking at places that had a decent breakfast, allowed luggage storage, had a lift, and if possible AC, however in my price range not eveyrthing was possible.

Initially I narrowed it down to the Hotel Metropol and the Hotel Yllen Eiffel. However after reading the forums, Hotel Yllen Eiffel and the area around it sounds borning.

Where do you recommend we stay? The Latin Quarter sounds fun, can someone elaborate and maybe answer my questions on safety, convience, and %26quot;qualitiy%26quot;.

I would really appreciate help on this as my head is literally spinning after spending days upon days on this.

Thanks everyone!

I would suggest the Latin Quarter in terms of it being fun,

convenient and safe. I have stayed there 4 different trips.

Close by are the Cluny, Sorbonne and rue Mouffetard,

You are close to several metro stations as well as the Seine.

I thought Oberkampf was the now, hip, cool, trendy whatever place for the %26#39;branche%26#39; crowd... ? and the metro to Gare de Lyon is only about 7 stops away, easier transfer than coming from LQ.

If cheap is what you are looking for, the Bastille, Oberkampf or Republique areas will probably offer you a bigger bang for your HKD than the Latin Quarter.

As has been suggested, you will be closer to the %26quot;real%26quot; nightlife around Oberkampf, and these areas will be more convenient to the Gare de Lyon.

You will be within a few minutes walk of the Marais, which is great for good value cafes and restaurants, as well as having its own nightlife options.

And you will be able to get to most of the places you might want to go quickly and easily, some on foot, otherwise by bus or metro...

Looked up a couple of 2-stars on Venere.com with decent comments on same website...

Hotel Mondia **

www.venere.com/hotel/…

Triple - 72-80E

Hotel International**

www.venere.com/templates/go.php?htid=14686

Triple - 75-88E

p.s. Air-Conditioning is not going to be an option at these low prices...

Have a look at Hotel Paris Bercy, a 1 star hotel in the 12th, rates for triple room are around 75-80. It is near Daumesnil metro station ie not far away from Gare de Lyon station. It is a clean and safe hotel. The metro line is going to Latin Quarter, Marais, Bastille...I think it culd be good deal for college students...

Have a look at the website: http://www.paris-bercy-hotel.com

Have a nice trip!

travelnutty%26#39;s suggestions both look like good picks from the location standpoint. The International is probably in a slightly quieter location, but the Mondia puts you very close to the Republique metro station (as well as two others) which would make getting to wherever you want to go pretty easy...

And there are trons of cafes and restaurants and a lively after dark scene within a few blocks of either, though again the Mondia is closer to the action...

I meant to say 35 euro per person per night...so basically between 90-100 euros a night. Thanks for the help though. Any more suggestions?

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Any more suggestions? %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

What do you need from a hotel beisides a reasonably comfortable bed and a clean bathroom in a decent location? travelnutty%26#39;s suggestions just saved each of you about 5-8 Euros a day. So put it in your food budget and eat a better dinner every night...

as we are staying in Paris the longest and near the end before we head back...staying in a comfortable place would be nice.

I saw Hotel Monage......i think that was the name..and it had AC but thing was it was booked during our dates.

A triple is a must. If the hotel provides a good breakfast (breakfast, cereal, hot/cold drinks, fruit, pasteries, crossaints, etc) or there is a good place nearby where we can get it for less then 8 euro that would be good.

A place that has luggage storage is also a must.

Finally, although we are college students and night life is important...its not number one. We would really like to have good valued places to eat, comfort, and acceibility to the hotel and sights in paris and safety be higher priorities.

The hotel should be clean, towels+lines provided...a lift would be nice...and so should service.

I ahve found qutie a few places thorugh the the forum...i would like advice as to whether you would recommend LAtin Quarter, Saint Germain, Luxemborg over Bastille, Oberkampf or Republique.

Like I said, a triple in our range is not esy but its not impossible in regions 5 and 6 i think from what I have seen.....

thanks again guys.

P.S. I found Hotel des Mines and such...they are slightly above our range for the triple...but anyone know any others...or a deal on this one?
