taxi fare to gard du nord from orly airport

how much approx will a taxi fare be from orly aiport (south terminal) to gare du nord station, please? our hotel is around there and we arrive quite late at night (10pm), so we have a few safety concerns with taking the metro/bus.

any advice will be much appreciated! thanks.

ORLY airport is closer in to Paris (Zone 4) than CDG (Zone 5). If the average taxi fare at that time of night (taxi fare rates increase at night) from CDG would be 55-60 Euro, then the average taxi fare from ORLY would probably be 40-45 Euro.

thanks so much! i think we will probably take your public transport suggestion.. seems it will cost a lot cheaper. cheers =)

im anticipating that we will be arriving at gare du nord around 11pm, complete with our luggage and valuables (eg. passport, camera). would that make us an easy target for mugging at that time of night? anything we should look out for? ive been told that there is a police station right next to gare du nord..
