Carte Orange - Oui or Non????

We are planning to be in Paris for the first time for a week in Sept. We arrive on a Monday morning. We are told to take the Air France bus to our apartment near the Eiffel tower. We plan to spend the day in that area on Monday; go to Versaille on Tues via RER; Louvre on Wed; Notre Dame and Musee d%26#39;Orsay on Thurs; Friday is open (we have the Moulin Rouge Dinner show in pm); Giverny on Saturday.

Two questions --

what have we missed that we absolutely need to see??

Will it be worth it to purchase the Carte Orange for the week for Zones 1-2 or should we do the books of Carnets???

Thanks for your help!

We arrived on a Wed %26amp; left on Tues. There were 2 of us %26amp; in all we used 30 metro tickets (3 carnets), 4 tickets to/from CDG and 4 tickets to/from Versailles. So I%26#39;m not sure how the math works out, but I think the carte orange would be worth it. Not to mention I had used/unused metro tickets coming out of my ears!

Oui. I thought the Zone 1-3 Carte Orange was well worth it, although it won%26#39;t help you get to Versailles or Giverny (you%26#39;ll buy separate tickets for those). Look for KDKSails%26#39; terrific analysis on this forum if you want to know whether it makes sense financially, but I liked having the Carte because I knew I could always go in and out of the metro or off and on a bus without thinking about tickets. In wet or hot weather, walking isn%26#39;t quite as appealing as it would be otherwise and sometimes we just wanted to pop up at a metro station and take a quick peek at the area on our way to another neighborhood - we might not have done that if it meant an extra pair of metro tickets.

IMO, you should include Jacquemart Andre museum (including lunch at the cafe) and Saint Chapelle in your itinerary - you could stop at Saint Chapelle on your way from the Orsay to Notre Dame (big museums are much less crowded earlier in the day, but for cathedrals, time of day doesn%26#39;t matter, so you should plan to go to the museum first on Thursday).

NO QUESTION ABOUT IT...for your Monday-thru-Sunday itinerary, the CARTE ORANGE Zone 1-2 will be your BEST BET. You will need to purchase separate r.t%26#39; RER %26#39;C%26#39; tickets for VERSAILLES (5,20 Euro ea--and the r.t. Paris/Vernon train trip out to Giverny will be a separate SNCF train ticket under any circumstance) but the Carte Orange provides you with the best cost savings and most convenience...and when you%26#39;re done, it makes a GREAT %26#39;personalized%26#39; souvenir of your visit.
