La Bourse area -- good for staying?

Hi there,

We have an opportunity to rent a pied a terre that%26#39;s a %26quot;stroll away%26quot; from La Bourse and across from Le Figaro. I have no clue where this is. Does anybody know if this is a good area, e.g. close to cafes, bistros, shopping; is safe; close to metro, etc? Many thanks in advance!

Well yes, it is a very nice area. I used to work there (rue du 4 septembre) and you are within walking distance from the opera, the boulevard haussmann where Printemps and Galeries Lafayette are, and also not far from place des victoires which has very nice clothes and shoes stores, and some nice wine bars. You will have no problem finding restaurants. You can also walk to La Madeleine.

Well I loved to work there, but the problem is that I spent a lot of money during my lunch breaks because of the proximity of shops like Zara, Mango and Galeries Lafayette!!

It is safe, has several metro stops.

I am not sure where le figaro is, but what I have just described above is for %26quot;la bourse%26quot; district.

Le Figaro is on Rue montmartre which is a very central area, 15 minutes walk from Opera / Les Halles / Louvre.

That%26#39;s terrific! To be more specific, it%26#39;s in the 100 block of rue Montmartre.

There are streets in that area that can be VERY quiet. However, if you stay there you MUST eat at these restaurants that are in the vicinity:

1. Cafe Moderne - right across the street from the Bourse. Go Monday Night - they have specials on the wine.

2. Aux Lyonnais - an Alain Ducasse gem that cost me only 104 euro for dinner for 2 with wine. I think this might be the best value in Paris. Link to it here: alain-ducasse.com/public_us/cest_aussi/fr_au…

3. And, the old reliable Chartiers. An authentic, inexpensive meal at about 50 euro for two with wine. The food is not bad, but you will have a LOT of fun! Here is their website: restaurant-chartier.com/www/…filsdesans.php

There are a couple of charming Passages nearby and you are an easy walking distance to the Louvre and Palais Royale. Several great restaurants, like Aux Lyonnais and Chez Georges. ANnd not far from the charming rue Ste-Anne with its intereseting art galleries and Japanese restaurants.

How very exciting! Thanks for your comments. I%26#39;m really looking forward to this trip!
