airlines to other cities in Europe?

Has anyone used any of the intra europe carriers? I plan on spending a few days in Paris and hopefully continuing on to Santorini, Greece. I have seen some really cheap airfares in the past listed at CDG, but unfortunately I can%26#39;t remember any of their names.

We just used Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) to travel from Venice to Paris. It worked fine. They fly into smaller airports so you usually have a little more commute time into/out of the city you%26#39;re visiting, but for our fare of .99 Euro, it was worth it! Baggage allowances are strict, but our carry on was definitely overweight, and they didn%26#39;t weigh it or give us a problem. But they have definitely charged other customers. Other airlines are the new myair.com and there%26#39;s also easyjet.com

I can%26#39;t find anything from Paris to Santorini.

Take a look at this site: http://www.whichbudget.com/

Best I can find there with a quick and cursory search is flights from Brussels to Santorini.

You can%26#39;t get from PARIS to SANTORI..you need to get somewhere else from Paris to start....most likely one of the Greek airpoorts on the mainland--Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Mitilini.

The only scheduled air service to Santorini from anywhere is by Olympic Airways (from Athens only) or Aegean Air (offers only connecting srvice through mainland greek airports). So you would need to find a Europen budget carrier to get you from Paris to Athens (for the most connecting flights) and then one of the few air carriers which provides air service to Santorini---or take a ferry.

Oooh Santorini. I also want to go there. Here%26#39;s a website that lists inexpensive European airlines that fly there. attitudetravel.com/greece/lowcostairlines/

Out of curiousity, have you seen the 80%26#39;s movie Summer Lovers? Its set in Santorini.

That would only be true if Air Berlin had suspended its services to Santorini from no fewer than five cities in Germany, Transavia had suspended its service from Amsterdam, and JetOnly had suspended its service from Brussels.

But if they have, they haven%26#39;t bothered to inform their online booking systems of the fact....

BTW, I can%26#39;t find any budget airline that flies from Athens, Mytilene or Thessaloniki to anywhere in France...

You can fly from Heraklion to Mulhouse/Basel with Berlin Air, but the last I knew of it, Heraklion is in Crete, not on the mainland of Greece...

On the link I included, I did find that British Airways flies CDG to Athens... of course you have a connection in London. Whats that expression? %26quot;Going around your elbow to reach your thumb?%26quot; Is that it?

Another airline, Virgin Express, flies Nice to Athens....

But I did find that another of the airlines listed -Air Scotland- has really good deals to Athens from Glasgow... but that just helps ME as I%26#39;m planning on going to Glasgow next year and would LOVE to also go to Santorini! :-)

Before you read any further, I hope you are sitting down...

I just did a quick search for RT fares from Paris to Santorini on www.expedia.fr. I used random dates in September first, then October, thinking that looking that far ahead I might find some reasonable fares...

The *lowest* fare I could find on any of the four or five sets of dates I tried was over 1300 Euros, and that was with two stops, sometimes taking as long as nine or ten hours. With only one stop the fares went UP considerably...

The slightly less bad news is that JetOnly is showing me fares from Brussels of around 450 Euros RT non-stop. The bad news about that is that they are showing limited or no seat availability on some flights even as far out as Sept. and Oct.

Flying from Brussels to Athens with JetOnly and then to Santorini with Aegean does reduce the fare by somewhere around 50 to 75 Euros, which may not be worth the extra complication, time, and possibility of missed connections, lost baggage, etc.

The good TA folk who live in Paris may have some idea of how to get those fares down from the stratosphere, but I don%26#39;t...

And since I don%26#39;t know your dates I don%26#39;t know if the Sept./Oct. dates are relevant.

In any case I doubt the fares are going to be a whole lot lower unless there is a budget airline that I have not been able to unearth flying this route. Obviously at this point you would be better off, and quite probably quicker, taking the train to Brussels and flying from there, unless someone has a better idea...

VirginExpress no longer flies from Nice to Santorini.

They do fly from Nice to Athens for about 250 Euros RT (could be more or less depending on dates) but trisha would still have to get from Paris to Nice (EasyJet) and Athens to Santorini (Aegean). That is getting to be almost as baroque as getting to Ulan Bator, and in the long run would probably not make the whole trip any cheaper...

You%26#39;re correct...but for the fact that most of these other budget airlines only offer one-flight-per-day, one day-per-week service for selected departure cities---most of which are in the opposite direction from Paris to Greece. As an example, XL offers service on Tuesdays from London-Gatwick(LGW) And of those which do offer limited service, few offer much in the way of bargains, after you%26#39;ve paid to make your way from Paris to their departure cities.
